"There is nothing more dangerous, nothing more powerful, nothing more necessary and essential for survival than the lies we tell ourselves." I borrowed an audiobook copy of this from my library. The audio can really make or break a book in my opinion, and I have to say that I really enjoyed Rebekkah Ross as the narrator. I have something like 4 or 5 Megan Miranda books on my TBR list, All The Missing Girls was the first and will definitely not be the last. I loved, loved, loved her writing style. And that gorgeous cover definitely caught my attention. Short synopsis: the main character, Nik returns home for the summer to help her brother/look after their father and finds herself pulled back into the past and the mystery of her best friend's disappearance 10 years prior, which is triggered by another girl vanishing. This was my first 'book in reverse' and I think having it as an audio did make things a little more confusing than if I had the physical book or kindle copy to flip back to if I needed reference. I felt as though the book did drag a bit about 3/4 of the way through, but the twists and final turns more than made up for the pace. A book with so many characters can end up being very jumbled or confusing, but Miranda did a great job of developing them, while also not getting too involved with the side players. Overall, 4 stars. I want more of those characters, I felt drawn to all of the in one way or another. Except for maybe Everett, although I fully see the reasons for having him as a character.
